Trainee recruitment
A training contract at Weightmans.
Unlike many firms we offer our trainees real legal
experience during their training contract, including attendance at
court and client meetings. Challenged right from the outset, our
trainees have the opportunity to demonstrate their talents across a
range of seats, following a focused training plan. Our
training contract comprises four ‘seats’ each one lasting six
months. During each seat our trainees have monthly review meetings
and a more formal end of seat review with their supervisor ensuring
trainees receive regular, constructive feedback on their progress.
All our trainees attend the Professional Skills Course (PSC) as
well as attending further training events to equip them with the
necessary skills for being a successful solicitor. We consult with
our trainees regarding preferred seats and post qualification
aspirations.
We intend that the commitment we make to our trainees
should last beyond the end of the training contract. For the last
two years there have been permanent positions for all our
qualifying trainees.
We look to recruit up to fourteen trainee solicitors each
year. When considering training contract applications we look at
law and non-law graduates from a variety of backgrounds, who can
demonstrate an ability to achieve results. Above all, we value well
motivated candidates with a pragmatic approach, who can make a
positive contribution to a team.
Please read our trainee profiles to discover what training at
Weightmans is really like.
Whilst this website will provide you with lots of information,
it is also good to be able to find out in person what it is like to
train at Weightmans. Throughout the year we attend a number of law
fairs where you have the opportunity to talk to some our current
trainees and members of our HR & Development team about working
at Weightmans. Please see the box on the right for the events
we are attending this year.
