NHS Breakfast Club - Doctors, disciplinaries and £4.5 million
Venues: Liverpool, Manchester
Monday, February 27, 2012 - Wednesday, February 29, 2012
Managing Doctors. It is not easy at the
best of times. Now, following the headline grabbing decision
in Michalak v Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust (&
Others) the stakes have been raised considerably. In that
case the Trust was ordered to pay over £4.5 million in compensation
after it dismissed a hospital consultant about whom it was alleged
concerns had been raised by junior colleagues. The Trust was
found to have discriminated against Mrs Michalak on the grounds of
her sex and subjected her to various detriments due to
whistleblowing. Such cases are notoriously difficult to
handle, so our next NHS Club will focus on the following key
issues:-
- How do you deal with doctor’s disciplinary
cases?
- What practical and legal issues do such cases
throw up in your organisation?
- How do you overcome them?
- How can you get your strategy right from the
start?
- How can you maintain momentum?
Come to our NHS Clubs where you can debate
these issues and discuss best practice and practical solutions with
your colleagues and peers from across the North West.
