SRA Guidance
The SRA has once again highlighted the risk of
property fraud and have released a
warning card which looks at how to identify it and what you
should do if you believe it is happening.
The new EU directive on services in the internal
market came into force on 28 December 2009. This obliges
solicitors to provide clients with information on their services
beyond the requirements set out in the Solicitors’ Code of
Conduct. For further information on what is required from you
and to view the directive, please click on
the link.
The SRA is updating Rule 2 of the Code of
Conduct and changes will come
into effect on 1 March 2010 to deal with the information
which will need to be provided to clients on the firms’ complaints
procedure at the start of the retainer.
