Company loses appeal following death of one of its employees

The Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal of Tangerine Confectionery Limited which was convicted of health and safety breaches in April 2010 following the death of one of its employees who was crushed to death in the automatic arms of a machine.

RIDDOR to be extended

Plans to extend the reporting requirement under Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) from the current 3 day absence reporting trigger to seven days, has been approved by the HSE Board.

Reminder of changes to RIDDOR and Infoline

September marks two changes in services from HSE with the RIDDOR reporting system to change to a predominantly online reporting facility from 12 September 2011 and the closure of the Infoline telephone advisory service from  30 September 2011.
