Are you aware of your clients' level of exposure to corporate manslaughter legislation?

Recent research* has shown that, although the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act came into force in April 2008, knowledge in the insurance industry of the penalties under the Act remains poor.  In addition, over 80% of insurance brokers surveyed stated that less than one in 10 of their clients have contacted them about this legislation, which suggests there is also a lack of awareness in the wider business world.

Searchlight and Weightmans LLP are hosting a seminar which, in a 'real' court environment, will follow a workplace fatality case study, showing how evidence is gathered and charges are brought.

During the course of the day you will assist the advocates in questioning witnesses called on behalf of the prosectution and defence.  A verdict on the charge of corporate manslaughter will then be returned and the implications considered.

This is a new and exciting way to help you understand Corporate Manslaughter Act and the dangers facing your clients.
