Director in the dock - death by PUWER

Weightmans Regulatory Team are hosting a "mock criminal trial" in association with Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, and Croner.

The event in Liverpool on 14 May will see Partner Chris Green prosecuting a Director defended by David Lewis who has been charged with the manslaughter of an employee following an accident on unguarded machinery.

The hearing will be conducted In real court conditions and presided over by a Crown Court Recorder, Gordon Bebb QC and a jury selected from delegates attending the event. Witnesses include HSE inspectors and engineering experts to be cross examined as if the trial were taking place in court. 

The audience will see the entire proceedings unfold and have a chance to vote on whether the director is guilty and faces a term of imprisonment.
