Weightmans makes its first appointment in 2010
Law firm Weightmans has made its first appointment of 2010;
Sallie Harrington joins the Local Government team in London as an
associate.
Sallie, who specialises in community care law, practiced
in-house with local authorities before joining Creighton &
Partners in December 2003.
At Weightmans, Sallie will be part of a growing team delivering
comprehensive legal advice to local authorities on adult services,
child protection law, education and mental health. Sallie will work
alongside the already well-established Healthcare Advisory team in
London led by Kiran Bhogal, enabling Weightmans to deliver an
all-round service in public law to Local Authorities and the
NHS.
Graeme Creer, Weightmans’ Head of Local Government: “Sallie’s
appointment is an excellent way to start the year. Her extensive
experience will benefit our public sector clients and add to our
strength in this highly specialised area. I am looking forward to
working with Sallie and I am sure she will teach me and my
colleagues a thing or two.”
Sallie, who was first admitted to practice as a barrister and
solicitor in South Australia in 2000 and qualified as a solicitor
in England in 2004, says she is excited about the challenges ahead:
“I am thrilled to be joining a firm that has such a fantastic
reputation for public law. I look forward to getting stuck in and
hope that my role will boost both the local government and
healthcare offerings in London.”
Weightmans’ public line continues to surpass itself with 2009
seeing the firm appointed to both the London Borough Legal Alliance
consortium panel in October and the North West Collaborative
Commercial Agency’s panel (advising over 50 NHS Trusts in the North
West) in December.
