Weightmans property lawyers do their home work on school deal
Two property lawyers from Liverpool law firm Weightmans LLP
went back to the classroom for their latest deal.
David Percival, a partner in the commercial property team, was
joined by solicitor Karen English to advise Childwall School Sports
College on its part in a multi-million pound development.
The school, based at the corner of Childwall Fiveways on Queens
Drive, Liverpool will have a combined Health Centre, Library and
Educational Facility which will be constructed on the school’s
existing library site. David and Karen secured the school a lease
of 99 years for a section of the development, which it will use as
sixth form teaching facilities.
Partner David Percival said of the deal:
“This is a fantastic development that not only allows the school
to utilise modern facilities, but also paves the way for a
partnership alliance with Liverpool Primary Care Trust and
Liverpool City Council as joint tenants of the Health Centre
Building.
“At a time when school construction projects in Liverpool are
under threat after the Building Schools for the Future programme
was axed, this deal is a huge boost for both the School and the
region as a whole.”
Catherine Densmore, Business Manager at Childwall Sports
College said:
“The school could not have completed this deal without
Weightmans. It has been a pleasure doing business with the firm and
I am delighted that it has resulted in a successful outcome for the
school.”
Eversheds LLP acted for Liverpool City Council, Hill Dickinson
LLP acted for Liverpool Primary Care trust and Speechly Bircham
acted for Liverpool and Sefton Health Partnerships.
