EU procurement

Advice on all aspects of EU Procurement law (including the Public Contracts Regulation 2006) from the tender process to the award and beyond.

With commercial companies and public sector bodies seeking increasingly to procure goods and services from EU countries, the legal and procedural implications of these transactions have grown in importance. Achieving value for money is a key objective, and extreme care is needed to ensure that deals do not fail because the legalities are not properly observed.

Weightmans' EU Procurement service was set up to cater for this growing demand, and offers a full range of specialist services. These include advising on and management of the correct procurement process, including the drafting of, and advice in relation to, OJEU notices, invitation to tender, conditions of contract and replies from tenderers. We also handle award of contract matters and general compliance (including challenges) with the EU Procurement regime.

Our dedicated EU Procurement lawyers have a wealth of experience in this area, and members with local authority in-house expertise include Graeme Creer, previously the City Solicitor for Liverpool City Council.  We are therefore able to deliver our services with a genuine understanding of your concerns and problems. We seek to help you add value to your services while delivering value for money with ours.

As a national practice, we are able to complement the work of our EU Procurement specialists with support from our employment, property, construction, commercial litigation and regulatory teams. This means we can cover all aspects of any procurement requirement while providing a                co-ordinated, seamless service with a single point of contact.

We act for a wide variety of clients including local authorities, PCTs, police authorities and other public bodies, including multi-million euro civil engineering procurements.  We also enjoy successful relationships with many private clients, advising in relation to procurement documentation, including invitation to tender, conditions of contract and challenges to the procurement process.
