Colin is a partner in the firms’ London Market team.
Before joining Weightmans he was a partner in the insurance and
reinsurance group at London law firm Lawrence Graham, and before
that he worked at London law firm Davies Arnold Cooper.
For nearly 20 years he has specialised in insurance and
reinsurance policy coverage advice and related disputes.
Colin has considerable experience of advising in large scale
industrial property damage and business interruption claims, often
multi-jurisdictional, involving things such as smelters,
transformers, boilers, furnaces, mines, warehouses, factories and
the like.
He also regularly advises on reinsurance policy coverage,
aggregation, notification, claims control/co-operation,
allocation, loss/follow settlements, rights of inspection, and
issues relating to possible avoidance, affirmation, waiver and
rectification.
He is experienced in conducting arbitration, litigation and/or
mediation, both in London and internationally and has
responsibility for the team’s reinsurance collection service, being
very experienced in making collections from reinsurers throughout
the globe. He has handled disputes involving entities in North
America, Western Europe, Scandinavia, South America, the Middle
East and the Far East.
He also advises on claims involving brokers, directors &
officers, financial institutions, High Net Worth, political risk
and product liability.
Clients include London Market and international insurance and
reinsurance companies, Lloyd's syndicates, brokers and run-off
managers.
Colin is recommended for insurance and
reinsurance litigation in the UK Legal 500 directory (2007, 2008,

Association (“BILA”) and is an international member of the
