Ed is head of construction and an integral member
of Weightmans' Specialty Insurance & Construction
Group.
Originally a qualified barrister, he has
extensive experience of working with major organisations within the construction sector,
both domestic and international,
as well as insurers within the London and international
markets of construction-related risks under CAR, EAR, Professional
Indemnity, EL/PL and Single Project policies.
With an in-depth knowledge of the entire
construction process, Ed advises on all manner
of disputes under the
major forms of building and engineering contract (including JCT, GC
Works, FIDIC, ICE, NEC, IChemE and ACE), as well as the preparation
and amendment of bespoke agreements and quantum
meruit; Arbitration
& Adjudication;
all forms of Alternative Dispute
Resolution (including Mediation); claims for loss/expense
arising from project delays and prolongation; performance bonds and
warranties; property damage/business interruption; specialist
sub-contract operations (including diamond drilling, piling,
telecoms, chemical process plant and demolition); product
liability; PFI/PPP; and procurement.
Prominent work undertaken by Ed
recently has included advice to project managers engaged
in the Nuclear New-build Programme and to an Australian
subsidiary of a global mining group upon matters of jurisdiction
and international law. He is also regularly the first-choice of
leading insurers to advise on policy wordings and to represent
them in coverage disputes.
Ed is a member of Lincoln’s Inn; TeCSA
(Technology & Construction Court Solicitors Association); CIArb
(Chartered Institute of Arbitrators); and SCL (Society of
Construction Law). He has lectured to the construction and
insurance industries on key topics, including risk management;
contributes to industry press; and speaks regularly at
seminars.
