Ed joined Weightmans in December 2008 from a
specialist City of London insurance and dispute resolution
practice, where he was a partner and head of construction.
Originally a qualified barrister, he has extensive experience of
working with major organisations within the construction sector, as
well as insurers within the London and international markets of
construction-related risks under CAR, EAR, Professional Indemnity,
EL/PL and Single Project policies.
With an in-depth knowledge of the entire
construction process, Ed has advised on all manner of claims under
the major forms of building and engineering contract (including
JCT, GC Works, FIDIC, ICE, NEC, IChemE and ACE), as well as the
preparation and amendment of bespoke agreements and quantum meruit;
arbitration & adjudication; policy coverage and disputes,
including brokers’ negligence; claims for loss/expense arising from
project delays and prolongation; performance bonds and warranties;
property damage/business interruption; specialist sub-contract
operations (including diamond drilling, piling, telecoms, chemical
process plant and demolition); product liability; PFI/PPP; and
procurement.
Ed is a member of Lincoln’s Inn; TeCSA
(Technology & Construction Court Solicitors Association); CIArb
(Chartered Institute of Arbitrators); and SCL (Society of
Construction Law). He has lectured to the construction and
insurance industries on key topics, including risk management;
contributes to industry press; and speaks regularly at
seminars.
