Howard qualified in 1994, later joining
Beachcroft Wansbroughs in 1999 where he became Associate. In 2008
he joined Weightmans as Partner.
He has wide ranging experience in RTA, EL and
PL claims representing clients in all civil courts up to the Court
of Appeal. He demonstrates an eye for technical detail resulting in
the repudiation of a variety of claims ranging up to £1 million RTA
claims.
Howard advises general insurers on emerging
issues critical to the insurance industry. He has advised major
insurers on claims process reform and on the Civil Litigation Costs
Review.
Howard has been heavily involved in advising
compensators on claims process reform and the civil litigation
costs review. He provides solutions to emerging issues affecting
personal injury claims and has been involved in a lot of the test
litigation over the past 5 years, such as the Accident Group test
cases, Atack v Lee, the RSA Pursuit test cases and
Jones v Wrexham Borough Council.
More recently, Howard ran the successful test
cases of Ramsay and others v Instore Plc and
others defeating claims for exaggerated claims for costs.
Howard is a member of a number of professional
bodies and associations including Birmingham Law Society Civil
Litigation as committee member, Birmingham Law Society as a
committee member and FOIL.
