Kiran joined Weightmans in January 2009 having
previously been a partner at Beachcroft's LLP. She
specialises in Healthcare Law and has been advising NHS bodies
since 1991 across a range of medico-legal, health and public
sector issues including mental health law, the law relating to
children, complaints handling, complex and sensitive inquests, risk
management, judicial reviews, serious untoward incidents, medical
ethics (including consent and confidentiality), patient care
issues, emergency applications for declarations of treatment, Human
Rights Act 1998, Data Protection Act 1998 and the Freedom of
Information Act 2000.
Kiran also advised NHS
bodies on clinical and corporate governance issues, public
consultation duties, commissioning decisions, policies and
procedures and has provided training to boards on the legal
framework within which they operate. She has additionally advised PCTs
on all aspects of primary care law including but not limited to OOH
services, continuing care, funding, contract management (GMS,
PMS, GDS, PDS etc) and the management of practitioners on performers
list. Her expertise in child protection
matters has also extended
to her advising and supporting sporting bodies on this
aspect of the law.
In 2006 she qualified as a Solicitor Advocate (Civil
Proceedings) and in the same
year was appointed as a Deputy District Judge.

Profession2009)
described Kiran as
