Michael joined Weightmans’ London Employment
team in February 2009 having specialised in employment, industrial
relations and human resources issues since qualifying in 1988.
Michael’s practice is dedicated to servicing
public sector clients, including councils, NHS trusts, the Police,
Fire and Rescue Services, Probation and Prison services, schools,
universities and further education colleges.
Michael spent seven years with Warwickshire
County Council as a senior solicitor with a direct and managerial
responsibility for employment and regulatory issues; he spent 15
months on secondment to Leicester City Council for whom he secured
and defended on appeal the highest costs order made by any
Employment Tribunal in 2001/2002; he provided intensive assistance
over an 18 month period to Birmingham City Council’s employment
lawyers. This included responsibility for progressing the
Council’s caseload of 425 “Preston” part-time pension cases through
to conclusion.
Michael has become associated more and more
with complex restructure/transfer exercises with its attendant
information, consultation and industrial relations
dimensions. His relationships with both public sector and
private sector clients are reflected in complimentary entries in
previous editions of the Legal 500 where he has been described as:
“bright and responsive,” “very popular with clients” and “very
highly recommended”.
