Admitted in 1983, Simon has been a partner since 2001 and joined Weightmans in April 2011.

Simon has an extensive construction and property practice dealing with mainstream construction matters. On the non-contentious side he acts for employers, contractors and professional advisers drafting and negotiating bespoke contracts and amendments to standard form contract documentation, development agreements, insurance bonds and guarantees and novation documentation.

He acts for a number of specialist sub-contractors and suppliers and has particular expertise in dealing with sub-contractor and specialist supplier issues. On the contentious side he undertakes a wide variety of disputes including delay and disruption, loss and expense, bonds and guarantees. He also receives instructions from insurers in respect of professional negligence claims against architects, engineers and surveyors, defective material claims and contractors all risk claims in respect of project insurance. Simon has conducted claims in High Court, including the Technology and Construction Court, arbitration, adjudication and mediation.

He has undertaken significant material loss insurance cases including the Heathrow Airport fire in 1997. He has also advised on policy coverage issues in respect of claims concerning the Dartford River crossing. As part of his property practice Simon also acts for commercial landlords and tenants in disputes for recovery of rent, dilapidations and breach of covenants.

Simon is a member of Society of Construction Law.

Simon is also an Intervention Agent for the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
