Admitted in 1982, Tom has been a partner since June 2007 and
joined Weightmans in April 2011.
Tom’s expertise lies in commercial property, business sales
& acquisitions, and the licensed trade. His commercial property
experience includes sales, purchases and commercial leases, on
which he acts for both landlord and tenant clients. A number of his
landlord clients are investors in light industrial and business
park estates covering the Midlands and South-East England.
He acts on behalf of both individual and corporate clients in
the sale of pubs, clubs, hotels and restaurants, as well as
licensing applications relevant to the trade. He is legal advisor
to several trade representative organisations, including the
National Parliamentary Committee of Licensed Victuallers
Associations; The Guild of Master Victuallers; and a number of
local Licensed Victuallers Associations. He has frequently
represented such organisations in discussions with Government
Ministers and Departments; Members of Parliament; and the European
Commission on legislation relevant to the licensed trade.
Tom has also acted as a consultant lecturer to commercial
training organisations and to London Metropolitan University on the
Legal Practice Course for trainee solicitors.
