Law firm scores award nomination hat trick
The shortlist for the annual Birmingham Law Society Legal
Awards 2010 has been announced and Weightmans has received an
impressive three nominations.
Employment Associate Laura Kearsley is up for Assistant /
Associate Solicitor of the year, Partner and head of the Commercial
Dispute Resolution and Insolvency team in the Midlands Verona Cocks
is nominated for Commercial Solicitor of the Year while Bhavesh
Prajapati has been shortlisted for Trainee Solicitor of the
Year.
The news comes after a successful year for Weightmans’
Birmingham office that included numerous high-level appointments
and a series of client wins. The firm has steadily been raising its
profile with the Midlands business community and David Tuck, head
of the Birmingham office is naturally delighted with the nomination
success:
“To have three nominations for this year’s awards shows that we
employ some of the region’s finest lawyers. All three candidates
thoroughly deserve the recognition and everyone here hopes they get
to take home the gold.”
Laura Kearsley, a prominent figure in the legal community as
Chairwoman of the West Midlands branch of the Association of Women
Solicitors said of the nomination:
“I am very excited about being on the shortlist and to be joined
by two of my colleagues and friends is a real treat.”
The Legal Awards is not the only ceremony Verona Cocks will be
attending this year; she has also been nominated in the legal
category for the Women on their Way awards 2010.
She said: “To receive public recognition not only in the legal
community but amongst the region’s best businesses is both humbling
and exciting.”
The winners of the Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards 2010 will
be announced at the annual awards ceremony on 25 March at the ICC
in Birmingham.
Verona will find out whether she has been successful in the
Women on their Way 2010 Awards on 19 March 2010 at the Aston Villa
Football Club.
