Leicester lawyer wins praise for national recognition with award nomination

Weightmans lawyer Victoria Curran has been praised by peers and senior members of her firm after being shortlisted for Solicitor of the Year at the Law Society Excellence Awards 2011.

Having won Solicitor of the Year at the Leicestershire Law Society Awards this year, Associate Solicitor Victoria was accompanied by a team from the firm at the ceremony last night in London.

In attendance was Ian Evans, Senior Partner at Weightmans. He said:

“It was a matter of great pride for me to be present at the awards ceremony and to appreciate that Victoria was placed with a small number of high profile and truly excellent candidates. 

“What made Victoria's nomination even more remarkable was that although she is only 3 years qualified she was shortlisted in the open category, and shortlisted alongside very senior lawyers. 

“This is an outstanding achievement and due recognition for the efforts Victoria puts into every aspect of life within the firm.  It is not just a great personal honour for her but also for the firm. Well done!"

The Judges' citation stated that Victoria had shown ‘the ability and commitment of a much more senior lawyer. Taking on pro bono, mentoring and charity work, Victoria works tirelessly to achieve results for clients, colleagues and the local legal community’.
