Weightmans confirms talks

Weightmans LLP today confirmed that it is in talks with Mace and Jones and Vizards Wyeth and the firm’s managing partner hopes to agree terms shortly.

Patrick Gaul, managing partner of Weightmans commented: “We confirm that we are currently in talks with the partners of Mace and Jones and Vizards Wyeth. There is no formal agreement in place at this stage but we are optimistic that we can come to terms within a reasonable time frame.

“We have spent some time already looking at the strategy and the vision and we are at a stage now where we are investigating whether a mutually acceptable deal can be put together and we would anticipate being able to make a further announcement shortly.”

In November, Weightmans was on target to reach a record £60 million turnover after exceeding its half yearly billing target. The firm posted £56.2million annual fee income for the 2009 / 2010 financial year.

Mace and Jones operates out of Liverpool, Manchester and Knutsford while Vizards Wyeth has offices in London and Kent.
