Merged employment team gets off to strong start
The
Employment team at Weightmans which, following the merger with
Mace & Jones in May, is close approaching 100 lawyers has
secured its first tender win. . . .
The employment law team
has sealed a framework agreement with Wales Audit Office, the
office of the Auditor General for Wales, to provide employment law
and related advice for a four year period. As the public service
watchdog for Wales, the work of the Wales Audit Office is to
promote improvement in public services in Wales. The team has been
appointed to advise on HR policies, terms and conditions and health
and safety law. In addition, the team at Weightmans will also act
as secondary supplier for other matters, including any contentious
legal issues.
David Fagan,
the partner in the Employment team at Weightmans who led the tender
process, commented:
“This result clearly demonstrates the progress
that we are making in Wales and in public sector work generally,
and that together we really are stronger.”
Tim Lang, head
of the firm’s Employment team added that the merger has seen
Weightmans’ employment offering become one of the largest in the
country:
“Our national employment team now has over 90
members which makes it one of the largest in the country. We have
significant resources and an impressive breadth of experience to
service the employment law needs of any organisation – both public
and private.
