Weightmans raises £13,000 for Great Ormond Street
Great Ormond Street Hospital has received a cheque for £13,544
from long-term supporter Weightmans..
...bringing the law firm’s total fundraising
contribution for the hospital to a staggering £41,838 since
2003.
The sizeable contribution was the result of a year-long CSR
challenge which saw lawyers and support staff battle it out to host
fundraising events. The winning team, consisted of Claire Lefort,
Hannah Pooley, Roger Johnson, Jackie Bowen, Linda Vaughan, Yvonne
Hudders, Sarah Hamilton and Kylie Jamieson ,after hosting
Weightmans by the sea event.
Lindsey Burke Senior Fundraising Executive, at GOSH received the
cheque before taking members of the firm on a tour around the
hospital to show them how the funds they raised were being put to
use.
Laura Hale, a solicitor in the Healthcare team in Weightmans’
London office has led the region’s fundraising efforts this year.
She said:
“The fundraising challenge proved a great success. The money
raised will fund research, be put towards state of the art
equipment and will help towards the redevelopment of some older
parts of the hospital, which will make a real difference to the
children and parents who visit the hospital.
“Our fundraising commitment remains as strong as the day we
chose to support the hospital back in 2003.
“Great Ormond Street relies on continuous fundraising to deliver
a world class treatment and care programme and we are proud to play
a small part in this.”
Weightmans was recently shortlisted for CSR Project of the Year
at the 2010 British Legal Awards.
