Collaborative law
Resolving family issues in a dignified and respectful way with
collaborative law...
Collaborative law is a new approach to family law which focuses on resolving the issues
between clients in a dignified and respectful way. The process also
aims to resolve cases in a more time efficient manner than
commencing court proceedings.
Collaborative law puts you in control of the negotiation
process. All discussions take place at meetings where you and your
former partner and your specially trained collaborative lawyers are
present. There is a formal commitment by all concerned not to
resort to the court process. This creates a forum for you to reach
your own decisions with the help of expert advice. Such meetings
also keep the channels of communication open between you and
promote a non confrontational approach which benefits both you and
your children.
Collaborative law is not suitable for everyone. Both you and
your partner have to be prepared to negotiate and compromise. If
you think it is an approach that would suit you a collaboratively
trained member of our team can help. With our network of contacts
with like-minded family lawyers across the country we can also help
put your spouse/partner in contact with a suitable adviser.
We offer a free 30 minute consultation on matters concerning
collaborative law. For further information contact a member of the
family
law team.
