Disrepair – what is the real damage?
This free seminar will look at disrepair claims and how to manage them, plus real-life experiences from court.
This event has now finished.
When assessing the impact that the increase in disrepair claims is having upon an association, it is not just the amount of money being paid out to settle claims that is causing the damage.
Tenants are often ill-informed and face pressure from claims management companies farming cases, further adding to the stress on tenants who are seeking assistance from their landlords. In addition, many claims stem from previously failed works where matters are being misdiagnosed, leading to repeated and expensive works being undertaken that do not remedy the issues.
In this session, we will look at the regulations surrounding claim management companies and what action can be taken to hold them to account. We are pleased to announce that Julie Schroeder (Prima Group) will be a guest speaker to discuss building pathology and the array of different testing that is available to ensure that an accurate diagnosis of the defect can be achieved first time.
Owing to the amount of claims currently working their way through the court, we will also discuss some real-life experiences from court, providing some insight in to the attitude of the judges, to help you tactically run a disrepair defence in the future.
