Mock Trial - Assault claim

Weightmans Birmingham
Starts: 23/10/2018 09:30 - 13:00

This event has now finished.

We are pleased to invite you to our Mock Trial event which will take place at our Birmingham office.

The Trial is based on a real patient assault case and will provide practical guidance for anyone who is required to assist in preparing evidence for, give evidence in or advise colleagues what to expect when giving evidence in a Civil Trial e.g. ward managers, those involved in the risk assessment of patients/service users and legal services employees.

Issues to be addressed by the court will be;

  • The adequacy of risk assessments/care plans,
  • The placement of a service user/patient,
  • The correct level of observations and training,
  • The common themes we see in assault claims.

We will be utilising experienced barristers from No5 Chambers to represent both parties. Another barrister will act as the judge and our experienced solicitors will be on hand to assist with any queries. Those attending will be encouraged to comment and provide their views as to the possible conclusions that the judge could reach.

There is no charge to attend and will likely be of interest to those working in a legal or risk management team in a healthcare setting.

Places are limited so booking is essential on a first come first serve basis. Please feel free to click the forward email button to pass the invitation onto any colleagues who may be interested. We look forward to seeing you there.
