New Partner brings energy to Weightmans
Tracy Lake joins the firm with a wealth of in house experience in response to growing demand in the utilities sector.
National law firm Weightmans has appointed Tracy Lake in a boost to the firm’s utilities and wider commercial offering. She joins Weightmans as Partner, and is based in the firm’s Birmingham office.
Tracy Lake joins the firm from National Grid plc where she spent ten years supporting numerous National Grid businesses, including its core gas and electricity businesses, advising on a wide range of commercial matters associated with National Grid’s key contracts and industry codes, as well as projects and regulatory issues. Tracy also supported National Grid’s “non-core” businesses - National Grid Metering, National Grid Interconnectors and National Grid Grain LNG.
Prior to joining National Grid, Tracy spent seventeen years at Severn Trent Water Ltd and therefore has vast experience of working as an in-house utilities lawyer, providing valuable insight into how external lawyers can add real value and efficiency to in-house teams.
The news of Tracy’s appointment follows the arrival of Nicola Gonnella, who joined Weightmans after a number of years in-house in July.
Simon Colvin, Partner and Utilities lead at Weightmans said:
“Tracy is a fantastic addition to the team – her vast experience in the utilities sector is second to none, and her unique insight into the needs of general counsel will enable us to provide a more intuitive service to clients.
“We are delighted to welcome her to the team at such a busy time and look forward to continuing to grow our team further in the coming months.”
“I am delighted to join Weightmans, a progressive firm with a culture which truly focusses on its people. I am looking forward to using my many years of experience as a senior in-house lawyer and leader within FTSE 100 companies to help to enhance and grow the firm’s utilities offering.”
