The newly acquired North East office of national law firm Weightmans has advised Newcastle-based automotive visualisation specialist, ZeroLight, on its new round of funding from Amsterdam venture capitalist and growth financing firm, Ponooc.

Ponooc has joined ZeroLight in its latest round of investment, with the Weightmans team seeing the Series B deal through to completion.

ZeroLight offers a unique, cloud-based car-configuration and content-production platform that is in use by multiple automotive companies around the world. This latest round of funding will enable ZeroLight to continue to expand and deliver its intelligent sales and marketing platform to new and existing clients both within the automotive industry and beyond.

The Weightmans team advised on ZeroLight’s previous funding rounds, including investment from European venture capital and growth equity firm Prime Ventures, as well as funds managed by locally based Northstar Ventures.

Duncan Reid, Partner at Weightmans who managed the deal alongside corporate solicitor Nick Gray, said,

“ZeroLight’s international investment highlights the strength of the growing tech scene in the North East. The investment will enable ZeroLight to expand its innovative offering to major players on the global stage. We have a long-standing relationship with the team at ZeroLight and our experienced tech team are delighted to have been able to support ZeroLight on this latest deal.”

Darren Jobling, CEO at ZeroLight, said,

“Duncan, Nick and the Weightmans team have supported us on a number of investment rounds, and the guidance they provided for this strategically important deal for ZeroLight was invaluable. Not only will the funding from Ponooc take ZeroLight through its next commercial growth phase, it will also help us to secure the required talent as we expand our global reach.”
