National law firm Weightmans has been appointed to provide legal services to one of the top ten housing organisations in the UK after a competitive tender.

The firm has been appointed by Midland Heart to deliver legal services on two of five lots: Housing Management and Employment, Pensions and Health and Safety.

Midland Heart is a leading housing association and the largest housing and regeneration business based in the Midlands, operating in 54 local authority areas, providing and maintaining homes for more than 70,000 people across over 33,000 properties.

The contract begins on 1 July 2020 for an initial three-year period, with an option to extend for a further two years.

The news comes as Weightmans is appointed to the legal services framework of Central Housing Investment Consortium (CHIC).

Partner and Head of Social Housing at Weightmans Sian Evans said:

“The social housing sector is currently managing a series of pressing issues – not only coping with the fallout from the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic but also ongoing challenges concerned with fire safety, to disrepair claims and carbon emissions commitments.

“This second housing tender appointment in recent weeks is a real testament to the expertise and preparedness of the team at Weightmans to support housing providers through challenging times, as well as seeking new opportunities for growth and care for their residents. We are delighted to have been appointed by Midland Heart and look forward to getting started this month.”
