National law firm Weightmans has appointed Matthew Collings to its national Planning and Infrastructure Consents team.

National law firm Weightmans has appointed Matthew Collings to its national Planning and Infrastructure Consents team.

Formally of Eversheds-Sutherland LLP, Matthew specialises in all aspects of planning law, advising public and private sector clients across a range of matters, including regeneration and housing; planning appeals and judicial review; transport and infrastructure and planning policy support for major schemes.

Matthew has particular expertise in compulsory purchase and compensation matters  and in 2016 was elected onto the national committee of the Compulsory Purchase Association, by industry peers.

He has spent recent years advising on the delivery of major schemes such as HS2 and various major and mixed use regeneration projects within London and nationally and has a strong track record of delivery on major projects.

Matthew previously qualified as a barrister and will be based in the firm’s London office. He has been ranked in both leading legal directories for a number of years, and is recognised as an 'Associate to Watch' in Chambers and Partners 2019 with his ‘knowledge and awareness’ described as ‘first class’.

He said:
