Ling Ong has been appointed President of London FOIL, an arm of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers (FOIL)
A lawyer from national law firm Weightmans has been appointed President of a leading voice of legal services providers serving the Lloyd’s and London (Re)Insurance Markets. Ling Ong, Partner at Weightmans, has been appointed as the new President of London FOIL and will lead the organisation through the next year – London FOIL is an arm of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers, concentrating on the global insurance and reinsurance markets, including the challenges facing Lloyd’s of London.
At the same time as Ong’s appointment, Gavin Coull, executive committee member of London FOIL and a partner at EC3 Birketts Legal, takes over as Vice-President of the organisation.
Ong replaces Ingrid Hobbs, Partner at Kennedys, whose presidency has had to navigate a year of unprecedented challenges for the London (Re)Insurance markets. Insurers and reinsurers have been forced to overcome and adapt to the new environment and underwriting hurdles this year has brought. London FOIL, through thought leadership and advocacy, can assist law firms (and their clients) on the thorniest issues in the market e.g. such as removing unhelpful grey areas in policy wordings and rebuilding consumer confidence in insurers over the course of the pandemic.
Commenting on her appointment, Ling Ong said:

Commenting on Ling’s appointment, FOIL Chief Executive Laurence Besemer said:
