National law firm Weightmans has successfully achieved ISO 14001:2015 certification for environmental management systems, which recognises the firm’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact.
ISO 14001 is an internationally-recognised accreditation, providing a comprehensive guideline for all areas of environmental management. It requires an organisation to consider their impact on all relevant environmental issues – for Weightmans, the priority was putting measures in place to reduce paper usage, business road miles, waste generation and energy consumption.
The news comes as the firm continues a significant digital transformation, working towards an entirely paperless approach and embracing an agile working model. Agile working has already been successfully rolled out in the firm’s Manchester, Birmingham Leicester and London offices, drastically improving efficiency and working arrangements.
Simon Colvin, Partner and lead of Weightmans’ Environmental programme said:
"We are delighted to have secured this accreditation, reaffirming our commitment to the environment. Not only do we have a legal obligation to adhere to certain requirements but an ethical one – reducing our carbon footprint and creating a greener workplace is something we take incredibly seriously. We are working hard to ensure we are always improving and the ISO 14001 framework ensures we are in the strongest position to do that."
