National law firm Weightmans has been appointed to the London Universities Purchasing Consortium (LUPC) legal services framework as the firm’s work in the higher education sector continues to gather momentum.
The LUPC is a buying organisation that takes a collaborative, cost-savings approach to the procurement of goods and services for its members – mostly universities and colleges around the capital but also national organisations from the wider not-for-profit sector. Other public sector consortia – the SUPC, NEUPC, NWUPC and HEPCW will also have access to the framework.
Weightmans was successful in all lots on the framework but has been appointed to three in line with the tender regulations. The firm will therefore provide advice in the HR, Commercial and One Stop Shop lots.
The news comes six months after Weightmans was appointed to the NWPUC Global Mobility Support Services Framework, providing legal advice to support the international reach of higher education institutions.
Partner Martin Vincent said:
"This is a fantastic outcome and a real testament to the hard work and commitment of the teams involved. Evidence of our innovative working and ability to deliver cost-effective solutions within our other HE legal frameworks helped us to clearly demonstrate our wide capabilities in this area.
"We look forward to supporting members of the LUPC to ensure they can best manage and embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead."
Weightmans was recognised as a top tier firm for Education – North West in the latest edition of Legal 500, released in September 2016.
