We are an environmentally conscious organisation and as such, we acknowledge the potential environmental impact that our operations have on the environment.
We are certified to both ISO 50001 (energy) and ISO 14001 (environment) internationally recognised management systems.
We are also a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact 10 principles and have been awarded a gold (top 5%) sustainability rating by EcoVadis.
Following validation by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), Weightmans LLP is pleased to announce that our near-term and net-zero greenhouse gas(GHG) emissions reduction targets have been assessed and approved as being aligned with climate science and the goals of the Paris Agreement. Weightmans LLP commits to achieve net-zero GHG emissions across our entire value chain by FY 2045 over FY 2024 baseline. This commitment covers our direct operations and the emissions associated with our wider value chain, reflecting our responsibility to reduce our environmental impact across the business.
To achieve our net-zero commitment, we have also established long-term science-based targets to reducing absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 95% by FY2045 and reducing absolute Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by FY2045 recognising that meaningful climate action must extend beyond our direct operations and into the goods and services we procure and the partners we work with.
As part of our pathway to net-zero, we have established science-based, near-term targets to reducing our absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by FY2035, increasing our active annual sourcing of renewable electricity to 100% by FY2030. This transition will play a key role in reducing the carbon footprint of our operations while supporting the wider decarbonisation of the energy system. We also commit to reducing our absolute Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 37.5% by FY2035. Scope 3 emissions represent the majority of our footprint and include emissions associated with our supply chain, purchased goods and services, business travel, employee commuting, and other value chain activities.
