What are we doing?

At Weightmans, we are committed to ensuring that our website can be accessed by everyone, whatever their abilities or disabilities. This includes people with visual, hearing, mobility and cognitive impairments.

We have followed the guidance set out by the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and user friendly for everyone.

The guidelines have three levels of accessibility (A, AA and AAA). We've chosen Level AA as the target for the Weightmans website.

To confirm compliance, we have had our website audited by an agency which specialises in accessibility compliance. The site is also regularly tested using specialist software to highlight any accessibility issues and to ensure ongoing compliance.

Accessibility features

Visitors with impaired vision can access a high contrast colour scheme by navigating to the bottom of any page and selecting the high contrast scheme. For users of screen readers, this option will be described as 'activate contrast site theme'.

For those who prefer to read the content of the site in a larger font, the in-built features of all modern browsers can be used to increase text size. In the latest version of each of the major browsers, text size can be increased by pressing the Ctrl and + keys and decreased by pressing the Ctrl and - keys.

All our website pages contain a hidden link which can be accessed via the tab key which allows users of screen readers to skip the navigation and go straight to the main content of a page.

Links to other pages in our website open in the same window. To return to the previous page, use the browser 'back' button. Links to external sites, and to downloadable documents open a new browser window. To return to the previous window, close the new window.
