RightProtect moves beyond roadside emergencies to cover the full spectrum of motoring law, giving its 25,000+ business customers access to qualified legal advice for a range of driving services
Underpinned by an expanded partnership with Weightmans, Right Fuel Card, the fuel card specialist and part of the global Edenred Group, today announces the launch of its new, enhanced RightProtect, offering a comprehensive overhaul of its legal protection service.
The relaunch transforms RightProtect from a 24/7 roadside legal helpline focused on blue-light incidents into a full mobility legal service covering the entire range of motoring law matters that UK drivers and fleet operators routinely face and is available to all Right Fuel Card business customers.
The original RightProtect provided drivers with immediate access to a qualified solicitor at the scene of a road traffic collision, a service that proved valuable, but addressed a limited part of the legal spectrum. Building on the existing 24/7 roadside emergency support, the enhanced product now extends to 17 additional areas of motoring law, from notices of intended prosecution (NIPs) to convictions, potential driving bans and appeals.
Right Fuel Card customers are also now entitled to free advice from a specialist Weightmans solicitor (terms and conditions apply), providing immediate, expert guidance when it is most needed, before insurance legal cover activates or before a situation escalates.
Why comprehensive legal protection matters for fleets
For businesses operating vehicles, the legal risks extend well beyond accidents. A driver who accumulates penalty points is a business continuity risk. A Notice of Intended Prosecution that goes unanswered can result in a court conviction and a hefty fine, which must be reported to insurers. A police interview handled without legal advice can have serious consequences for the driver and, in some circumstances, for the employer.
Fleet managers increasingly understand this exposure, but affordable access to qualified legal advice has historically been out of reach for smaller operators. RightProtect is designed to close that gap, providing the kind of legal safety net that larger fleets take for granted, at a price accessible to every RFC business customer regardless of fleet size.
Matthew Briggs, Managing Director, Right Fuel Card, said:
"Our new, enhanced RightProtect service represents an exciting development in what we offer our customers. The original service gave drivers peace of mind at the roadside. This enhanced service gives fleet managers peace of mind across their entire operation, from the moment a driver is pulled over for speeding to the point where a license is at risk. Combined with Weightmans' exceptional expertise and our deepened partnership, we believe this is the most comprehensive legal protection product available to UK fleet operators at this price point."
Michael Balmer, Partner and head of motor crime, Weightmans, said:
"Weightmans is proud to deepen our partnership with Right Fuel Card and to extend the reach of our transport and motoring law expertise to customers. The breadth of the new RightProtect service reflects a genuine understanding of the legal challenges that fleet operators face day-to-day. We look forward to supporting Right Fuel Card's customers across every stage of motoring law, from the routine to the serious."
