National law firm Weightmans has appointed seven new members to its healthcare team as it continues to strengthen its UK-wide healthcare offering.
Partners Angela Kirtley and Robert Rushton, principal associates Andreja Harrison and Katherine Lund, associates Jennifer Preston and Suniel Sandhu and legal secretary Katie Spence all join from Ward Hadaway.
The five pictured will be based in Weightmans’ Newcastle office, with Suniel Sandhu and Katie Spence joining Weightmans’ Leeds office. They will work with NHS Trusts, medical professionals, businesses and practices nationwide as part of the firm’s now 132-strong national health sector team.
This will include supporting NHS Resolution through its three-year Legal Framework panels, to which Weightmans was reappointed in 2022.
The Legal Framework panels — which see Weightmans deliver services relating to clinical and non-clinical liabilities, and complex, health-related issues — replace a previous NHS Resolution panel for legal services awarded in 2017, which also featured Weightmans on each of its three lots.

As well as supporting Weightmans’ commitment to its healthcare services, the new appointments continue the growth of the firm’s Newcastle office — established in 2019 following the firm’s acquisition of long-established North East firm Watson Burton.
Weightmans’ Newcastle team now features 56 team members, including 12 partners.
