Weightmans’ specialist Education practice has experienced remarkable growth of more than 30% in the last year, driven by a series of wins in competitive tenders. This expansion underscores Weightmans’ position as a leading legal partner to education institutions across the UK.

The firm has successfully retained its place on the £25 million London Universities Purchasing Consortium (LUPC) higher education legal services framework agreement, which is accessible to all universities and cultural organisations throughout England and Wales. This three-year framework, with the potential for an additional two-year extension, supports a diverse range of organisations, including higher education, further education, schools, the wider public sector, and not-for-profit institutions.

Weightmans distinguished itself by being the only firm appointed to all three Lots on the LUPC framework, achieving a 100% quality score and earning recognition as the top performing firm under Lots 1A and 1B.

In addition, the team has successfully retained its position on the £10 million Crescent Purchasing Consortium legal services framework, which is endorsed by the Department for Education. This three-year framework, with an option for a further one-year extension, is available to schools, academies, colleges, universities, educational trusts, local authorities, and organisations across the wider public sector.

In addition to the framework successes, Weightmans has welcomed several new clients in the education sector to its growing roster, including The University of Manchester, Brunel University, University of West of England, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the School of Oriental and African Studies - representing a total value of £2m.

Martin Vincent, Education head at Weightmans, said:

“These achievements further strengthen our position as a leading legal partner to the higher education sector within the UK and overseas. Our deep knowledge of the sector allows us to provide clients with pioneering legal solutions that are bespoke, pragmatic, and forward-thinking. As universities and colleges face increasing regulation and competition, Weightmans stands ready to support them with unrivalled expertise and a commitment to driving excellence and innovation in legal services.”
