Weightmans welcome the class of 2026

Weightmans has welcomed its 2026 intake of trainees and apprentices, joining at an exciting time for the firm, bringing fresh perspectives, energy and potential to the business.

In addition, the firm welcomes 14 undergraduate interns who will spend a year as part of their degree programme, gaining valuable hands-on experience before returning to university to complete their final year of study.

This year, one apprentice joined because of the firm’s ongoing partnership with Everton in the Community. Rose McKenzie stood out through the long-running work experience programme and joined initially in the New Matters Intake team. She now embarks on her solicitor degree apprenticeship.

Rose McKenzie, Apprentice Solicitor, said:

“The opportunity of an internship through Everton in the Community allowed me to see the possibility of a career in law. The Early Careers team encouraged my development by providing further work experience opportunities whilst I studied for my A-Levels. To then take up a position in the New Matter Intake team, immediately after finishing college, gave me further valuable insight into how the firm operates. I am now excited to be continuing my journey with Weightmans as a solicitor apprentice, starting with my first seat in the Healthcare national team.”

Helen Taylor, HR Director, said:

“We welcome our 2026 cohort of trainees, apprentices and interns - and wish them all the best as they start their legal careers with us. It is an exciting time for them all.

“Rose is a great example of how our Early Careers programmes are working in not only in spotting talent but in providing young people with real opportunities to access a career in law.”

It follows a busy summer for the firm’s Early Careers team, which has included its structured work experience programmes, including the first programme in partnership with the Social Mobility Foundation.

The firm’s Early Careers programmes continue to play a vital role in developing future talent, and the team look forward to supporting this cohort as they build their skills, gain valuable experience and contribute to the continued success of the firm.
