Biography

Alison is a Principal Associate in our family law team in Glasgow. Alison advises regarding matters of Scottish family law and Scottish child law. Alison is 11 years qualified and has practiced family law exclusively for the majority of that time.

Alison is regularly instructed by clients on matters regarding their children around residence, contact, welfare, maintenance and school fees. She volunteers with Shared Parenting Scotland to provide free advice to parents who are separated and may require additional support in making arrangements for their children’s care.

Alison has also been appointed as a Child Welfare Reporter at Glasgow Sheriff Court. This involves Alison speaking to parties in a case and reporting back her findings to the Sheriff to enable them to consider their decision.

She also has expertise in complex financial provision disputes upon divorce involving business assets and pensions, and advising on separation agreements and divorce and dissolution of civil partnerships.

She also advises on cohabitation agreements, pre-nuptial agreements and cohabitation separations under s28 and s29 of the Family Law (Scotland) Act 2006.

Alison has regularly appeared in Sheriff Courts throughout Scotland although she does her best to resolve matters by way of negotiation, as court is always a last resort.

Alison is a member and is on the committee of the Family Law Association and is a member of the Glasgow Bar Association. Alison is also a Notary Public.
