Alistair Hewitt



Formerly of RadcliffesLeBrasseur, Alistair is a Partner in our health sector team. He offers advice on a wide range of regulatory, disciplinary and criminal investigations.

Alistair regularly represents clients at coroners inquests, interim and substantive regulatory and disciplinary hearings, Post-incident procedures, IOPC investigations as well as prosecutions from initial police station interviews to Crown Court trials.

Alistair is regularly instructed by defence organisations and federations as well as private individuals.

Alistair’s practice areas include:

  • Cases before or involving statutory regulators, including:
    • General Medical Council (GMC)
    • General Dental Council (GDC)
    • Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
    • Care Quality Commission (CQC)
    • Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
    • Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA)
  • Local investigations by trusts (MHPS) or NHSE (performers list)
  • Misconduct hearings
  • Post-incident procedures
  • Independent Office for Police Conduct investigations
  • Inquests, including jury and Article 2 cases
  • Criminal cases — from initial interview to appeal

Alistair lectures and provides training both internally and externally and contributes to publications.

Alistair obtained higher rights of audience to represent clients in all courts in 2005. As one of our team of advocates, Alistair frequently appears before statutory regulators, disciplinary panels and coroners. Alistair is also experienced in police station attendances, having gained accreditation in 2003.
