Charlene Merry

Charlene is an Associate in the Private Wealth team based in the Leeds office.

Charlene qualified as a Solicitor in 2021, but has almost 10 years experience in a broad range of private client matters, including, but not limited to:

• Advising individuals in relation to asset protection, including the mitigation of inheritance tax and care fee planning;

• Advising individuals on their estate planning, including bespoke Will structures and the preparation and registration of Lasting Powers of Attorney;

• Dealing with the administration of both taxable and non-taxable estates, including complex Grant applications. Such applications include applying as an Attorney, proving a lost Will, rectifying any errors in a Will and dealing with applications with foreign domicile; and

• Advising on post-death estate planning, including the preparation of Deeds of Variation.

Charlene is passionate about client care and prides herself on being approachable and providing advice with empathy and in a way which is clear to understand. She has experience in dealing with vulnerable clients.

Charlene also has a particular interest in digital assets and estate planning after completing her Dissertation as part of her Masters Degree in Legal Practice on the topic. She has also presented at seminars to intermediaries about the protection and administration of cryptocurrency when dealing with estate administration.

Charlene is an accredited member of the Lifetime Lawyers Association and an Associate member of the Society for Trust and Estate Practicioners.
