Biography

Charlotte is an Associate in our Regulatory Social Care and Governance Team. Charlotte has experience of working in childcare law since July 2017, she qualified as a Solicitor in March 2020 and began to specialise in child protection law at this time.

Charlotte joined Weightmans in April 2021 and has since represented Local Authority clients in all aspects of public law childcare proceedings providing advice in the following matters:

  • Care proceedings;
  • Placement orders;
  • Emergency protection orders;
  • Special guardianship orders;
  • Forced marriage protection orders;
  • Secure accommodation orders;
  • Deprivation of liberty; and
  • Pre-proceedings.

Charlotte has experience of dealing with applications in the Court of Protection in respect of young persons to authorise any deprivation of liberty.

Charlotte advises on a range of complex issues during proceedings and has provided advice to social work teams, Heads of Service and Agency Decision Makers. Charlotte has attended both care and legal planning meetings.

Prior to joining Weightmans, Charlotte has experience representing clients in respect of private law children matters.

Charlotte is friendly, approachable and is able to establish an excellent working relationship with client departments.

Charlotte also works on the Local Government Out of Hours emergency advice line and provides emergency advice to Local Authorities outside of business hours.
