Gemma Castrofilippo

Gemma is a Principal Associate in the health team based in our Birmingham office.

Gemma has extensive experience of advising and representing both claimants and defendants across the healthcare sector. She now specialises in the defence and resolution of clinical negligence claims, representing NHS Trusts, GPs and medical defence organisations and their members. She advises on a range of pre-action and litigated cases, with a focus on high value and complex clinical claims.

Gemma has advised in a wide range of claims including those concerning birth injury, wrongful birth, neurological and spinal injuries, fatal claims, psychiatric claims, delayed diagnosis of cancer, prescription errors and representation at inquest. She has a particular interest in birth injury and wrongful birth claims.

Gemma is the regional lead for the firm’s Early Notification Scheme team, which investigates potential birth injury claims early and provides advice to NHS Resolution on these matters.

She undertakes supervisory and mentoring roles within the team, plus provides training to clinicians on matters including maternity safety and consent.

Gemma also holds client relationship management roles with NHS Trusts.
