Jon-Paul Casati

Jon-Paul is a Principal Associate in the commercial litigation team in Weightmans' Birmingham office. Jon-Paul has over ten years’ experience in advising and acting on behalf of corporate and individual clients in commercial disputes. Jon-Paul’s primary focus is to help clients avoid or minimise the financial and reputational impact of disputes, but he is also an experienced litigator who is more than happy to fight to protect his clients’ interests by bringing or defending claims through all levels of the civil court system when required.

In his early career, Jon-Paul specialised in banking and finance litigation. He has acted on behalf of the major high street banks, challenger banks and other financial institutions and lenders. He has a wealth of experience in loan, mortgage and guarantee disputes, PPI claims, regulatory issues and enforcing judgments.

Over the last ten years, Jon-Paul’s practice has expanded to cover a broad range of commercial disputes with a particular focus on the manufacturing sector. Notable areas of work include director, investor and shareholder disputes, including unfair prejudice petitions, derivative claims and applications for just and equitable winding up petitions; leaver disputes involving breaches of restrictive covenants and theft of confidential information by employees; high value breach of warranty claims arising out of share purchase agreements; high value contractual claims between customers and suppliers; and regulatory and professional negligence claims against solicitors and other professionals.
