Joseph Walton

Joseph is a Principal Associate solicitor in the Specialty Team of Weightmans, based in the Newcastle office.

Joseph primarily acts on behalf of insureds and insurers in defence of claims arising out of alleged breach of contract and/or breach of duty. This includes defending claims of negligent design, specification and advice within construction projects and residential builds. Commonly, this relates to claims against architects, engineers and surveyors, as well as design and build contractors.

As well as defending claims, Joseph also advises insurers on the application and effect of insurance policy wording, commonly relating to exclusions, notification, mitigation and breach of fair presentation. Joseph has conduct of claims in the County Court and High Court, with experience in the mediation and adjudication of disputes.
