Mike joined Weightmans as Head of Fraud in May 2022 and has national responsibility for the management and development of the firm's fraud offering across the business, working closely with segment heads, sector leads and client partners to develop the fraud proposition for clients. Mike's role includes developing value-added fraud propositions for clients to assist in the identification, defence, and — where appropriate — prosecution of fraudsters. As a subject matter expert, Mike will work closely with relevant government/industry bodies and trade associations.

Prior to joining Weightmans, Mike worked for Direct Line Group as Head of Counter Fraud Intelligence. In that role, Mike successfully implemented a dedicated intelligence capability, covering both counter fraud and business areas, and an industry-leading dedicated Data Protection Act disclosure function with a focus on fraud, compliance and risk. Mike was also a finalist at the Tackling Economic Crime Awards 2019, in the Outstanding Director/Manager category.

Mike has also previously worked as Head of Fraud Intelligence at the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Whilst there, Mike was instrumental in initiating a mortgage fraud review, installing confidence back into the legal profession following the 2008 economic downturn. He also achieved several high-profile successes following a structured review of the SRA's intelligence function. His team received the SRA's crystal award for significant contribution during 2011.

Prior to that, Mike served as a police officer in Thames Valley Police. As a police officer, Mike successfully investigated numerous complex frauds, violent crime and fatality cases and was commended on numerous occasions for his professionalism, case preparation and investigative skills. Mike specialised in intelligence and investigations, implementing a recognised dedicated covert intelligence bureau following the introduction of revised legislation in 2000.
