Shelley is a Legal Director and experienced Higher Rights Advocate in our Regulatory Police Team based in London.

She specialises in advising police forces across the country on a wide range of matters, including civil protective orders, operational issues and police misconduct.  Shelley also advises on the interaction of these areas with criminal proceedings. Shelley is known for providing clear, sensible and practical advice on often complex multi-jurisdictional issues and high profile cases.

As well as advising on technical legal matters, Shelley is regularly instructed by Police as an advocate and therefore prosecutes in Court on their behalf. Shelley is a robust but fair prosecutor when instructed in matters such as domestic abuse, closure orders, sexual risk and sexual harm prevention orders, stalking protection orders and forced marriage protection orders.

Shelley provides training to Officers of all levels on a variety of issues and is our lead on the Government’s new Domestic Abuse Protection Orders; developing a training programme for Officers and Inspectors taking part in the pilot.

In addition to the above, Shelley also accepts instructions as an advocate in Inquests.
