Biography

Stephanie is an experienced insurance litigator and regulatory lawyer specialising in defending matters on behalf of insurers, their policyholders across all sectors, national governing bodies, self-insured and uninsured organisations, as well as individuals.

Her broad range of experience and expertise see her regularly instructed to advise upon all matters which fall within the scope of liability policies, including public and employers’ liability claims, data protection claims and investigations, occupational disease claims, clinical negligence disputes, and regulatory investigations. Her case load includes matters involving catastrophic injuries, including brain injuries, spinal injuries, complex orthopaedic injuries, and fatal injuries.

Stephanie regularly advises in relation to inquests and safeguarding investigations, including matters which have highly sensitive aspects or attract media interest and require bespoke support. She also provides comprehensive policy advice, and advises in cases involving an overlap between regulatory prosecutions, and disputes pursued both in the employment tribunal and civil courts.

Stephanie works in partnership with all clients to ensure each matter is progressed comprehensively, tactically, and commercially.

Her achievements include successfully:

  • Defending an uninsured sporting body against a multi-million pound claim pursued by a professional footballer on the basis of vicariously liability, and recovering the clients costs in full.
  • Defending a national organisation against a claim pursued by multiple claimants for breach of data protection legislation, misuse of private information, breach of privacy, breach of contract, and breach of the Human Rights Act 1998.
  • Defending an amateur sports club against a multi-million pound claim relating to a catastrophic head injury, involving two defendants and complex duty of care, breach, and causation issues.
  • Defending a professional sports club against a multi-million pound claim arising out of alleged negligent treatment and pursued on the basis of a loss of chance of a professional sports career.
  • Resolving a complex mesothelioma claim pursued in excess of £1 million, which involved issues relating to property and investment valuation, and a contractual indemnities for private treatment.
