Steven Shelley

Steven is an Associate Solicitor within Weightmans' counter fraud group, currently specialising in motor accident claims. Previously, Steven specialised in occupational disease claims for over 10 years.

Steven is a technically skilled, highly competent solicitor, offering advice to well-known businesses in the insurance and commercial sectors as well as the utilities sector and public bodies such as local authorities and emergency services.

Steven defends motor accident claims, dealing with a wide range of circumstances where fraud is suspected, including staged and induced collisions, low velocity impacts, credit hire fraud and bogus passenger claims plus many others.

Steven has had numerous successes at court, obtaining findings of fundamental dishonesty and successfully applying to set aside QOCS in order to enable the recovery of our clients' substantial costs of defending fraudulent claims. When appropriate, this can include recovering monies from claimants, and sometimes their legal representatives, after claims have been struck out, discontinued or successfully defeated at trial by way of charging orders on properties, attachments of earnings and bankruptcy proceedings for example.
