Weightmans’ partner completes epic 876-mile charity bike ride

Weightmans’ partner, Stuart Whittle, has completed his “Tour de Weightmans” cycle challenge, taking in all 10 of Weightmans’s offices, across three countries, in just 12 days.

Starting in Glasgow and finishing in Cardiff, Stuart visited all the firm’s offices - Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Nottingham, Leicester and London - a total distance of 876 miles and 7,700m of elevation.

In his final year with the firm, Stuart is raising funds for the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, the former charity of the year for the Liverpool office. Through a variety of challenges, such as the Three Peaks, the Yorkshire Three Peaks, and three ascents of Snowdon, he has managed to raise an impressive total of £9,984 over the years. This cause holds special meaning for him as he was treated for cancer by Clatterbridge more than 20 years ago.

As at the date of publication, the Tour itself has raised £25,290 and the fundraising activities aren’t over yet.

Stuart Whittle, Partner, said:

I am raising money for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity so they can continue to support people undergoing treatment together with their families. The charity is one close to my heart having experienced the kindness shown to me when I was treated for cancer at the age of 33; especially the nurse whose name I never knew but who, late one night on the ward saw I was struggling and told me, “It’s ok not to feel brave”.

“I want to thank everyone who has donated, and to my colleagues who come out in force to support me, and those who joined me on some of the legs. It really means a lot, in this my 34th and final year at Weightmans.

We are honoured and delighted that Stuart is undertaking such a mammoth challenge to raise funds for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity. His fundraising will go a long way to help and support local people with cancer.

"Weightmans have supported the charity for the last four years, raising vital funds through an incredible series of events and challenges. Its dedication has been incredible. We cannot thank them and Stuart enough.

It is a fitting end to Stuart’s career at Weightmans. He steps down as Chief Technology Officer and from the Board after over 30 years with the firm but will continue as an Equity Partner until his retirement in March 2027.
