Biography

Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, Philip was a professional freelance musician having secured a Master's degree from the Royal Northern College of Music. After converting to the law, Philip qualified in 2009 into the Manchester commercial insurance team (now casualty team) working mainly on stress claims with Roddy MacLeod, and also various EL/PL/OLA claims.

In 2011, Philip moved to the Manchester motor team and is now a member of the Large Loss Team. He handles a wide and varied caseload of pre-litigated and litigated multi-track matters ranging in value from low multi-track to over £500,000. Cases include indemnity issues, liability disputed cases and complex causation and quantum matters. He is the motorcycle lead in the vulnerable road users group, and the Future of Road Transport Reform lead for the Highway Code. He also has an interest in cycle and e-scooter claims. He has presented on numerous occasions to clients internally and externally on a wide variety of topics, and written numerous articles for internal insights and external publications.

Outside of the law, he is a keen golfer and wine enthusiast, and holds a WSET Level 2 qualification.
